THE KINETIC INTEGRATION METHOD
(aka. KINTEGRATION )
Kinetic Integration is a practice of body awareness which creates change in both the Realistic and Non Realistic body.
The integration of thought and action, information and sensation, muscle and bone, nerve and instinct.
- A movement practice for the thinking body.
- A training for movement which focuses on the living bones, their function, angles, range of movement, distance, direction, shape and leverage.
- A method for monitoring and changing the frequency of muscular tension within our habitual movement behavior.
- A systematic examination of our Axial patterning and awareness. We study the interplay of gravity, mass, pressure, direction and body shape within the flow of time.
- Mindfulness of the spectrum of kinetic and sensory signals which emanate throughout all our body systems as a consequence of the activation of specific movement templates. The integration of this data into one unified sense of self.
- A way to change habitual patterns of self representation and extending range of movement .
- Focuses body and mind through movement awareness and linguistic imagery.
-
Rehearses the self as an actor within the theater of anatomy.
-
Studies the deep narrative of the human evolutionary narrative, its embodiment as text within our body and its enactment within the dramatic context of our lives.
-
Enhances and extends our physical and mental sense of self.
It requires us to be physically mindful and actively reflective.
Who we are as both individuals and a species is largely determined by what we are. The universe is a composition of both Matter and Non Matter. So are we. The hard core of our anatomy is built from Matter. Ideas, emotions and behavior is the Non Matter. If we extend this concept we can posit the existence of a Real body and a Non Real body. The Realistic body interacts with the real universe through the psychoplasma of the Non Real body. The Non Real body can be regarded as the imagined and creative representation of our self interfacing with the conditions of real time and space.
We experience ourselves as individuals but as we examine and train the body we cross a threshold and imperceptibly move from the particular singularity of our social self towards the collective universal Self. The localized individual becomes, through concentrated physical and intellectual effort, a representative of the Kind, the Archetype, the Spirit. This is most apparent in our use of language. We move from the expression "my body" to "the Body". There is a shift in our position on the spectrum of self containment. The boundaries we construct to maintain our relatively limited range of identity become permeable. The mesh in the net expands.
Kinetic Integration is the creative fusion of muscle and bone, intuition and analysis, metaphor and biology, self and non self. An on going examination of the Thinking Body.
